Liam Hachmeister

Liam started working in Dr. Khoshbouei’s lab during the summer before his senior year of high school. During that time he assisted with the Aging Project, which examined microglial senescence in the Ventral Tegmental Area and Substatia nigra pars compcta as the possible risk factors for Parkinson’s Disease. He specifically worked on analyzing microglial morphology through sholl analysis.

The current project he is working on aims at examining how norepinephrine transporter depletion may affect the morphology and interactions between astrocytes and microglia because of the interruption of dopamine and norepinephrine reuptake in the prefrontal cortex.
